On another note, I would like to see the reaction of one student in particular who hasn't heard the news yet. This student has disliked Louis since day one, has had a crush on every girl in school (including me) and has overblown reactions to everything, especially when a girl he knows is involved. As soon as word spreads to him, I will be confronted and I have never looked forward to being yelled at more in my life!

Rebecca - Lying with conviction
While Louis has a reputation of being a horrible liar, I can't lie to save my life. When I was asked if our relationship was serious, I would turn and mumble a "yes.” Luckily, it is considered normal to be shy about new relationships, especially with people you've always had a platonic relationship with. Being known for honesty, people seemed to just assume I was uncomfortable because the relationship was new and no further questions were asked.
Louis - Valentine's Day
Hmm. Sorry, I don't I have anything amusing or intriguing planned for Valentine's Day, the extent of our experiment's expansion into the holiday was the following Facebook conversation:
Me: Hey,
We still on for Sunday? :-D
-L
Rebecca:
You know we're on for Sunday! Wouldn't miss it for the world! Luv ya lots! (Yes, I switched to MSN speak because it's cute. ^^)
Rebecca
This, on top of our afornmentioned changing of our status, should give people the message. Oh! And I too had my first encounter with people and their speculation. It went something like this:
[Interior, library. LOUIS is working at computer ACCOMPLICE is working nearby, as our two girls, whispering]
GIRL #1: Louis, why did you change your Facebook status?
[LOUIS and ACCOMPLICE give each other glance.]
LOUIS: What do you mean?
GIRL #2: Your relationship status...
LOUIS: Yeah, Rebecca and I are dating.
GIRL #1: Really?
LOUIS: Yeah...
ACCOMPLICE: Yeah, didn't you guys know?
GIRL #2: Oh. Cool.
[GIRLS exit stage left, whispering.]
I should explain. You see, in my year and 2/3 at Avondale I'm afraid I've earned a bit of a reputation as being, well, dishonest. Not that I steal or anything, but I do love the look on someone's face when I tell them the English teacher's been fired when they ask where she is. This made me realize: what would have happened if my accomplice hadn't been there? Would they have believed me? Did they believe me? Some people, like the teacher Rebecca mentioned, think we're a match made in heaven - we do, after all, have some similar interests. On the other hand, everyone knows we've been platonic since day when. Just how will we convince them?

Rebecca - the students' (and teachers') responces
Once Louis and I had "gotten together,” we made it official with… facebook! Because everything is true if it's on facebook! The next day, a class mate came to congratulate me before the beginning of my careers class. My teacher responded with "it was about time!” When the congratulator left, I asked my teacher about what she had said. She knew the relationship was a joke, but told me I ought to consider not joking about it. Apparently, Louis and I continuously give off the Couple Vibe. Somewhat ironically, if we were to seriously date, one of us would probably end up murdering the other by the end of the week… not to mention the destruction to all the small islands in the Arctic.…
Ta for now,
Rebecca
Louis - First Post, Overview
This project started, as many tragic tales have, with a friendly discussion in the hallowed halls of Avondale Alternative Secondary School. I was sitting in the study hall with Rebecca and two other Avondalians who I can only imagine would wish to stay anonymous and we were chatting about all the relationship drama in our school. (Because really, a school with 90 students has lots of drama.) As we came to the conclusion that there had not been a single couple in the school that had not been well-matched, one of us, I'm not certain who, suggested Rebecca and I start a fake relationship.
Now, before I regale you with the rest of this tale of intrigue, I should first preface it with the my background with Rebecca. We met at the beginning of our first respective years at Avondale, I was in grade 10, and she was in grade 9. We soon became close friends are to this date, despite our many differences. Rebecca is very liberal and "organic"; she grows a lot of the plants that she uses for tea and seasonings, while I could be described as very... "mechanic"? Amongst other things, I have Asperger Syndrome, and so I am very methodical and logical in my thought processes, but, more importantly, I hate touching people. Hate it. Guh. I could get over someone making pointless small talk, or arbitrarily transforming nouns into verbs, but physical contact is the single biggest cause of discomfort in my life. Rebecca, on the other hand, would - and likely has - hug a total stranger. There's more stuff too, but typing about hugging strangers is weirding me out so I'll move on.
Back to the suggested deception, Rebecca thought it would be a hoot. I was hesitant at first, but simultaneously intrigued at what we might discover. We agreed then, on that Friday, about two weeks ago, over cold grilled cheese sandwiches, that Rebecca and I were now officially dating.
